Widow Jane Distillery announces today the first ever release in the brands The Vaults collection, a planned annual release of the oldest and rarest bourbons from the Widow Jane stocks. This falls inaugural release is a marriage of 14-year and older Tennessee and Indiana bourbons drawn from 20 barrels hand-selected and meticulously blended by Head Distiller Lisa Wicker from the Widow Jane Rickhouse on Conover Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. This Whiskey is the first-ever release in Widow Janes The Vaults collection, a curated annual release of the oldest bourbons made from Widow Jane stock. This Vaults 2019 edition is among the highest-proof expressions from the Widow Jane Whiskey label, finished in eight-year air-seasoned American oak casks.

Nose: The base of vanilla and brown sugar, but with a substantial trimming of spearmint and fir tree-style evergreen scent,

Palate: The flavor opened with that evergreen and mint spiciness before the sweet vanilla sweet side came up to occupy center stage again.

Finish: The finish was really the only thing that held this Whiskey back from an A-. It ran with a light sprinkle of wood spices before fading quickly.

Distillery Information

Widow Jane Distillery was founded in 2012 and is owned by Cacao Prieto. Founded by the inventor Daniel Prieto Preston, the company produces a number of whiskeys that are both sourced and distilled in-house. With an office in Brooklyn, NY and distillery 105 miles north of NYC in Red Hook, NY, the Whiskey gets its name due to the fact that the company uses water that comes from the Widow Jane Mines in Rosendale, NY.
