Tobala is a varietal of agave, traditionally found growing in the wild hills of Oaxaca. Today, the plants that grow in the wild are no longer harvested. Scorpion Mezcal planted their own fields of Tobala agave in Oaxaca, to preserve this indigenous variety and the tradition of Mezcal made from the Tobala. The Anejo is aged 3 years in French oak barrels.
Nose: The Anejo offers assertive aromas of fresh dill weed and lemongrass, with an enhancing caramel oak structure. A second sniff yields kiwi, custard, sandalwood and baking spices in a pretty melange of aromas.
Palate: It’s a well-rounded Anejo with residual oaky sweetness and smoke combining to elevate the herbal and agave flavors.
Finish: Tangy cigar notes merge with roasted nut and a juicy vanilla richness on the finish that creates a seductive, silky and long lasting conclusion.
