Del Dotto Vineyards is a Californian winery with a number of vineyard holdings throughout the North Coast. It produces a wide range of popular grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese and Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley, and Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County. The estate was founded in 1993 by Dave Del Dotto, who began with a single vineyard in Napa Valley. Today, Del Dotto’s vineyard holdings cover 177 hectares (437 acres) within Rutherford, Oakville, St Helena, Spring Mountain District, Howell Mountain and Sonoma Coast. Dell Dotto also own the premium label and winery Villa Del Lago, which farms a two-block 8ha (20 acre) vineyard planted entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon in the unofficial Pritchard Hill viticultural area in Napa Valley. In 2007, Del Dotto built a new winery and cave cellar on the boundary of the Rutherford and St Helena AVAs it had previously held tastings in a hand-dug cave dating back to 1885. The winery tours are structured around barrel-tasting and highlight Dotto’s experiments with barrel types and their influences on the wine.
