Named after the Roland TR-8o8 Drum Machine, 8o8 Whisky was launched by DJ TommyD (real name Tommy Asher Danvers) and entrepreneur Paul Pullinger in late 2015, helped by Warner Music UK Chairman & CEO Max Lousada, whisky expert Jonathan Driver and ex-Red Bull chief Harry Drnec.

Music producer TommyD and his team, along with help from Jonathan Driver, set out a create a whisky that could be enjoyed neat and as part of simple club serves and cocktails – the result is 8O8 Whisky, a grain whisky produced at the North British distillery. The name is inspired by the TR-808 drum machine. If you’ve ever listened to electronic music, you’ve almost certainly heard a TR-808 before.

Nose: Nose is complex yet not overwhelming.

Palate: Light honey, chocolate and vanilla notes – can be mixed with Red Bull, though the coconut water serve sounds more promising to us, however.

Finish: Perfect, long lasting finish.
