Launched in 2008, Atlantico is a blend of rums made by distilling fermented sugar cane juice and fermented molasses with some aguardiente. The rums are aged 1-2 years in ex-bourbon casks and then charcoal filtered prior to bottling. Latin music star Enrique Iglesias has a share in the brand.

Atlantico follows a somewhat unique system for their rum production. The brand, which has partnered with pop singer Enrique Inglesias, incorporates several styles of rum into their final product. Atlantico Platino is a blend of rums distilled from cane juice, as well as those based from molasses. Each is aged separately, before being blended together, and then re-aged for a lengthy marrying period. The rum received a package update in 2017.

Atlantico Platino Dominican Republic Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Subdued nose with charcoal, tobacco leaf and vanilla.

Palate: Sweet creamy vanilla ice-cream, buttery toffee and toasted almond dried by cracked black pepper and bitter orange zest.

Finish: White pepper and vanilla pastry.
