Barrell Bourbon New Year 2018 is a limited edition whiskey comprised of straight bourbons from seven different distilleries and five different states. They hail from Indiana, Kentucky, New York, Tennessee, and Texas and range in age from 5 years to 14 years. This is blended and bottled in Kentucky at a cask strength of 111.2 proof.

Barrell Bourbon Batch New Year 2018 Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich, deeply fruited and subtly spiced with slivered almonds, prunes, and black currents. Coffee notes are followed by soft oak, licorice, and vanilla flecked whipped cream atop hot cocoa, reminiscent of a finely aged Armagnac.

Palate: Like your first bite of a cheerily iced gingerbread man and rounded out by Twix candy bar, hazelnut cappuccino, and fig jam. The mouthfeel grows syrupy as it sits on the palate.

Finish: Creme de menthe melting into cocoa with a dash of steaming black coffee.

Distillery Information

Founded in 2014, Barrell Craft Spirits scoops up extra casks of premium Bourbon and Rye and bottles em up at full strength. Each batch is completely different. Sometimes the coolest casks on the market are Tennessee-style Whiskeys, sometimes theyre Kentucky Bourbon. The good stuff could be straight, or it could be a finished wood. The point is that they find the best odd lots and left-overs that would more likely be tossed into a generic blend and sell it to us in all of their glory.
