The new expression from Belle Meade is a seven barrel small batch release aged from 7-11 years old. The high rye content and the solid 110 proof make for a big spicy bold flavored bourbon and the tiny batches allow Belle Meade to tailor each batch to heighten both character and complexity. Turns out that this little operation in Tennessee continues to have some good stocks of great Indiana Bourbon in their warehouses and while we wait for their proper Tennessee Sour Mash to mature, we’re more than happy to enjoy this fabulous offering. Since they’re no longer offering single cask any longer, this is presumably where most of that whiskey is going and while the other offerings from Belle Meade have always been fabulous, this new benchmark seems to set the bar even higher.

Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve Batch No-6 Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is full of rich warm flavors of cinnamon, baking spice, rye spice, and spiced syrup.

Palate: The palate is sweet and full of cinnamon apples, baked pie crust, allspice, a touch of caramel, and plump raisins.

Finish: The sip ends on a warming finish where the heat makes itself known.

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery is a producer of Tennessee whiskey and other spirits that was launched in 2011 and began operating a distillery in 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee.
