This Zeer Oude (very old) from Bols is not referring to age of the product, but rather the old style of making genever. It is made from 100% grain and botanicals are not disclosed. This is bottled at 35% ABV and sold throughout Europe, primarily in the Netherlands and Spain.

Bols Zeer Oude Jenever | 1L Tasting Notes

Nose: Displaying a nice maltiness, accompanied by resin, pine sap and a distinct juniper aroma. Finally there’s some cumin.

Palate: The palate is fresh and subtle. The grain isn’t in the lead, but it’s always there as a base for the botanicals to shine on, such as aniseed and licorice.

Finish: The juniper notes linger. An oude genever that delivers exactly what you’d want it to.
