Bozal Tobala is made with maguey Tobala that took 12-15 years to reach maturity. The Tobala is a very small agave that can only be grown from seed, meaning that it takes a lot of Tobala plants to make a single batch of mezcal and it can be difficult for some producers to repopulate the plants that are used. This mezcal is made in San Juan Bautista Jayacatln, Oaxaca.
