Cedar Ridge Distillery is based in Swisher, Iowa. They use a custom pot-still to make their rums. Their “Dark Rum” product is twice-distilled and aged for three or more years in once used bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Cedar Ridge Dark Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Nosing the rum delivers notes of caramelized apple, butterscotch, and charred oak.

Palate: On the palate the caramelized apple note from the aroma takes the lead, followed by dark creamy vanilla, and honey. The charred oak tannins take over with a hint of dried orange peel and old leather.

Finish: A tannin rich finish.

Cedar Ridge was the first licensed distillery in Iowa since Prohibition. After releasing its first batch of whiskey in 2010, Cedar Ridge Distillery quickly became a nationally recognized leader in craft spirits, winning multiple awards such as American Distilling Institutes 2017 Distiller of the Year or Best American Craft Whiskey at the 2016 New York World Spirits Competition.
