The Hartfield & Co. American Single Malt Whiskey, according to those behind it, is distilled from 100 percent malted barley. It was then aged for an undisclosed amount of time in ex-bourbon barrels from the same distillery before ultimately being bottled at a barrel strength of 122.7 proof, or 61.35% ABV.

Nose: Tobacco, caramel and butterscotch dominate the nose.

Palate: The flavor profile is balanced, yet distinctive. A touch of smoke lingers in the background from the malted barley while sweetness and spice seem to dominate.

Finish: Smooth and Lingering.

Hartfield & Co., formerly the gentleman, is a small batch distillery located in paris, ky. They are the first licensed distillery in bourbon county since prohibition forced the closure of the distilling industry in 1919. It’s odd to think that out of all the bourbon currently produced in the world, none of it has been produced in bourbon county – until now.
