Iteration No. 1 of Grand Sicle was released in 1959. In 2019, Laurent-Perrier released its newest iteration – No. 24 – and for the first time in its history, the iteration of Grand Sicle will be noted on the bottle, indicating the vintage assemblage within. Grand Sicle is crafted from grapes harvested from 11 of the 17 grand cru villages. Comprised of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir, Iteration No. 24 is a blend of the 2007, 2006 and 2004 vintages. It received a 97pt rating from James Suckling.
Nose: Intense and complex nose of candied citrus developing into aromas of fresh pastry and toasted almonds, with subtle hints of honey and gingerbread.
Palate: Complex, marrying structure to finesse, resulting in a perfect balance between power and delicacy. This textured wine continues to develop on the palate and in the glass, showing notes of honey, hazelnut, and toasted brioche.
Finish: The creaminess and complexity of Grand Sicle perfectly complements any dish with truffles or mushrooms.
Established in 1812, Champagne Laurent-Perrier has a long tradition of innovation in Champagne and can be credited with many of the ideas that have defined Champagne production since the mid 20th century. Laurent-Perrier was among the first to introduce stainless steel fermentation tanks to the region in the 1950s, resurrected the non-dosage Champagne category with the introduction of Ultra Brut in 1981, and sparked the revival of non-vintage ros Champagne in 1968 despite the opinion of other producers that non-vintage ross were not to be taken seriously. Today, Laurent Perrier’s iconic Cuve Ros remains the benchmark for non-vintage ros champagne.
