Now at a higher strength of 46%, Penderyn Portwood was matured initially in bourbon casks before being finished in port barrels. the result is a creamy and rich whisky with notes of honey and spice.

Penderyn Portwood (New Bottling) Single Malt Whiskey Tasting Notes.

Nose: Fruity with chocolatey touches. Sweet, jammy and creamy with some toffee and wood spice.

Palate: Rounded and warming with more sweet, rich fruit and plum wine.

Finish: Sweet goji berries and caramel.

Distillery Information

The company was launched in 2000 as the Welsh Whisky Company. Whisky had been distilled in Wales for hundreds of years, but stopped in 1894. Penderyn became the first whisky to be manufactured in Wales for over a century when sales started in 2004. It remains the only whisky currently produced in Wales.
