The company was founded in 2001 by Walter Rivers, a former lawyer. The rum is made in small batches and aged for three years in oak barrels. The result is a smooth, complex rum with hints of vanilla, coconut, and butterscotch. The smoothness of Rivers Royale Grenadian Rum is due to the rum being aged for three years in oak barrels.
