Distilled at Venus Spirits, located in Santa Cruz, California, this rye is made from a mash of organic 60% rye, plus corn, wheat and barley. Its distilled in an alembic still then aged for six months in small barrels. It is bold and unruly, defiant in flavor and spirit.

Wayward Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: The initial nose is an abrasive assault of alcohol and raw grain, with the signature green wood and raw grain of very young whiskey. A splash of water tames the alcohol and brings out a bit of honey.

Palate: The taste is grassy and bitter, dominated by wood with hints of mint and mocha struggling to be noticed.

Finish: A lingering spice finish.
