A 12 year old blended malt whisky from independent bottler Wemyss Malts, built around Speyside whisky matured in both fresh and refill sherry casks for a rich, sweet and spicy dram with the emphasis on honey, as you might have guessed from the name.. International Spirits Challenge 2012 Silver Medal.

Wemyss Malts The Hive 12 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Beeswax, honey syrup, sweet flower petals, window putty, creamed apple, tangerines, lemon and crushed malt.

Palate: Oily and sweet, light honey, underlying polished wood with some unfinished deal and light sap.

Finish: Light and woody, with cream and vanilla.

Distillery Information

Founded in 2005, Wemyss (pronounced Weems) has an interesting claim to their place in whisky history. Back in 1824 when John Haig built Cameron Bridge it was on the Wemyss family land that he did so. As the Haig family were perhaps responsible for the earliest Scotch whisky distillation way back in the 17th century, it is a particularly good tale to be a part of!
